The function of the core lifter or core catcher is to hold the core inside the barrel and to retain it through wedge action. Universal Engineering Works, core lifters are manufactured from spring steel properly hardened to give extra spring action for longer life.
Both broached core lifters and slotted core lifters are manufactured.
